Course Overview
The courses are designed for students who wish to develop a comprehensive overview of the sports industry, with a specific focus on football, either playing or coaching, with the dynamic area of physical education, sports coaching and sports development. They combines academic sporting qualifications with practical skills development, coaching and competitive fixtures. The courses incorporates a mix of practicals, classroom lectures, industry and University visits with case study exercises. It will also provide the learner with real life work experience coaching at football schools and holiday camps.
Daily training, and opportunities to play at a high level of youth football, are available to students on the course. Students will also undergo trials for selection to represent Progress Sports and also trial for semi professional and professional football clubs.

Course start date – Pre-season period commences July 2015 & BTEC course commences September 2015
Duration – 2 years (Level 3), 1 Year (Level 2)
Qualification – BTEC L3, Maths, English, FA Qualifications, 1st Aid, DBS. BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sport. Functional skills-Level 2.
Method of Assessment – Graded Assignments, Project work, Presentations. * No final exam
Course Fee – 16-18 FREE
Equipment – Full tracksuit, training kit and football kit provided
Course Progression – Access to University, Inspired Sports Apprenticeships, Progress Sports Apprenticeships. Progression into semi and professional football clubs in the UK and overseas.
Career Opportunities – Positions in sport development, sports management, coaching and recreation, full-time employment.
Merseyside College League
Students will also undergo trials for selection to represent Progress Sports in the 11 a-side Merseyside College Football League and that compete against all colleges and 6th Forms in the north west region. We currently have 2 teams that compete within the three divisions.
Coaching Schools
Our partnership with Inspired Sports Events means that students also get real life football related work experience being placed within Soccer School Academies, After School Clubs, Holiday Soccer Camps, Community Events and Saturday Soccer Schools.
